About Translator
With her MA in modern philosophy and PhD in ancient philosophy, Dr Sabrina Lei, one of the brilliant young Italian philosopher-poets, has contributed enormously to the Italian cultural and literary space.

She has her own half a dozen works and over 45 translations of different works published in Italian in the fields as diverse as philosophy, poetry, storytelling, classics, theology, history and cultural studies.

Trained over a decade in classical Latin and Greek literature and poetry, Dr Sabrina has translated many passages and poems from classical Greek and Latin into Italian. Her Italian translations of some of the surviving poems of two of the foremost sixth-century BC Greek poets, Alcaeus of Mytilene and Sappho, were widely appreciated for their beauty and originality.

Dr Sabrina Lei has recently produced a fine Italian translation of 50 Twentieth Century Arabic Poems under the title 50 Poesie Arabe Del XX Secolo (Tawasul International, Rome, 2019). These inspiring Arab poems were originally selected and translated into Arabic by the preeminent UAE poet Dr Shihab M.Ghanem. Another very recent translated work of Dr Sabrina in Italian is 25 Racconti Brevi Dagli Emirati Arabi Uniti (Tawasul International, Rome, 2019), originally selected and translated from Arabic into English by Dr Shihab M. Ghanem and Wiaam S.Ghanem under the title 25 Short Stories from UAE.

Her some other widely acclaimed works are Soliloquio, the Italian translation of the South Asian poet Perveen Shakir’s Khud Kalami and La Stagione Dell’ Amore Delle Mandorle Amare e Delle Piogge Tarde, Mazhar ul Islam’s celebrated collection of poetic short stories called The Season of Love, Bitter Almonds and Delayed Rains (Jay Editore, Rome, 2014).

In 2018 Dr Sabrina produced the Italian translation of the noted Indian novelist-cum-poet Mirza Muhammad Hadi Rusva’s (1857-1931) Umrao Jaan Ada.

Dr Sabrina is currently completing her own collection of poems on themes of love and universal peace, to be published in 2029. As the director of Tawasul Centre for Research and Dialogue, based in Rome, Dr Sabrina Lei is actively involved in building peace, cultural and human ties across religions and nations through works of literature, poetry, philosophy and respectful dialogue of civilisations.
